Urban / Suburban is a series of photorealistic paintings drawn from the familiar spaces of everyday life. Architecture, streets, storefronts, and reflections become subjects through close observation.
Although the paintings are grounded in recognizable places, I am interested in more than their accurate description. Light, geometry, surface, and small details reveal a place's character and the traces of the people who inhabit it. The ordinary becomes something worth looking at again.
