These early sculptures grew from my engagement with direct carving and the human figure. Working in marble and stone, I reduced the figure toward gesture, movement, and essential form.

Unlike modeling, carving requires making each decision through removal. The stone's weight, resistance, grain, and character became active parts of the process, often carrying the figure toward more elemental forms.
